Meet Birdie! This little girl is as cute as her name. She is full of life and love....
Birdie has gone through SEPR’s “Train-A-Bull” classes and knows sit, stay, look, up, lay down, sit up, off and wait. She also knows she needs to lay down and wait for her food, which takes some self-control! She does know 'couch' and jumps right on up when she is tired and ready for a nap. Birdie is currently working on drop it and staying calm when visitors come, because she LOVES everyone!!!
Birdie is potty trained/crate trained and gives clear signals when she needs to go outside. Birdie does enjoy a peanut butter Kong for crate time; in fact, in the morning she waits for foster dad to touch that freezer and she is off to settle in. She lays down (on her own) while waiting calmly to get out with the crate door open! Birdie is a smarty pants!
Birdie loves playing with tennis balls, bones, and squeaky toys. Her foster family built her a “flirt pole” and a few rounds with it will wear her right out! Birdie enjoys walking a few miles or just sitting on the couch. She is treadmill trained and loves to hop on for those cold winter days or muggy summer nights. Out walking she’s very focused on where she is supposed to go and doesn’t get distracted by her surroundings or other dogs. On the flip side, when she’s relaxing on the couch, she enjoys looking out the window and participating in neighborhood watch.
Birdie is a great traveler! She does well in the front seat or the back of the car. Birdie loves going to grandpa and grandma's house. This may be in part because she has more freedom and enjoys running around the acreage on a 50 foot training lead.
Birdie lives with a doggie foster brother and does well with him. A family with a fun play mate could be entertaining for her, but either way she just wants to be with her people! Birdie is awesome with kids. She lives with a 3 and 1 year old and she adores them. Occasionally, she does need a reminder to watch out for the little ones on the floor when she gets excited, however. Birdie will also sit and wait from the living room while her foster family eats supper, but is more than happy to help the family clean up after the kids.
We continue to watch her spread her wings in her newfound freedom! Birdie is such a joy to be around and as such a fun ease about her personality we know that some family is certainly incomplete without her. Apply today to make your heart whole!
