The Queen of Jazz, and Lady Ella has come far from where she was and she continues to go even farther.. She was noted for her purity of tone and we feel SEPR’s Ella has the same soulful tune to her history. Ella was spending “Summertime” in Georgia prior to the “Blue Skies” of South Dakota. She “Dreamed a little Dream” of something better than the life she was living down south.  

 

Ella is a sweet, sweet soul, but does have a sassy jazzy side to her. Ella loves to spend time with her people, she would love nothing more than to snuggle up on the couch and watch Netflix marathons. Ella is a “Night and Day” difference from when she came into SEPR in 2019. It took some time for Ella to figure out what toys were, but once she did there is no going back. Destuffing toys is now a favorite.  She also adores going outside to play catch in the yard, followed by running some zoomies. Running errands around town with her people is also on her list of favorite things to do, she is a great copilot.  

 

Ella is a lady and likes to take things slow and on her terms. She lives with foster siblings, but does take a bit for her to warm up to new dogs and to wonder “Can’t We Be Friends”?  Ella lives “In a Mellow Tone” and enjoys things to be calmer than some. Management of excitement and play is key.  

   

Ella has caught on to the daily routine, house/crate training as well as commands. She appreciates a good frozen kong when she goes in her kennel for the day, which she always keeps clean.Ella has worked hard on leash manners and has attended SEPR’s train-a-bull class twice.  The first time learning for herself, the second time teaching a new volunteer the tricks of the trade. Ella can’t enjoy a “Manhattan” or anything poultry as she is allergic, but being that she is super food motivated, she hasn’t found a treat she doesn’t like. Ella has learned sit, lay down, come, and wait. Ella has her routine down and she is “Solid as a Rock” and knows when it is food time, crate time and time to play.  

 

While kids don’t necessarily appreciate jazz, Ella is okay with that as she isn’t quite sure about little humans under the age of 12. She would do best in a home with older more chill children. She has been cat tested and with supervision, could go “Smooth Sailing”.  

 

Before coming to SEPR and getting the medical needs taken care of, Ella had heartworm and a bad case of them. Because of this, her little heart is as big as the love she gives….literally, Ella has an enlarged heart and some scarred lungs, but that doesn’t slow her down.  She still loves to go on escapades and adventures.  She prefers walks in under 80 degrees weather and a few miles at a time. The spunk and fun Ella has and gives is something “They Can’t Take Away From Me’. She is such a fun character that you will say “Let’s Do It (Let’s Fall in Love)”.
