about AKIRA
Look out Sioux Falls, Akira is here! But don't worry, the only thing this sweet pup will be taking over is your heart! Newly arrived from down south, Akira has been getting used to a life lived indoors, and we've been loving getting to know him!
The commands he's working on perfecting include the basics of Sit, Come, Down, Look, Wait, Off, Leave It and Kennel. As long as the treats keep coming, he is very eager to learn and has been absorbing his training like a rock-star.
If you like wrinkles, he's got 'em! And he may be a year old, but he still acts like a much younger pup; flailing legs and all, but equipped with a bit of impulse control. He loves to play! Ropes, tennis balls, squeaky toys, noisy toys, soft toys and especially the flirt pole!
Crate time is a breeze, as he loves spending time in his crate. Give him something to chew on and a bit of music playing if you'll be gone for a while, and he will be content. Even if he does get a little noisy in the crate, it doesn't last long before he settles in for a nap.
His absolute favorite part of any day is getting to snuggle on the couch and fall asleep on someone.
Meeting his canine foster siblings is going super well, but keeping on eye on those puppy paws is helpful with smaller dogs. All he wants to do is play, but he can pack a little punch if you're not expecting it!
The bunnies in the backyard look fun to chase, but so far, the kitties in the house don't seem quite as interesting. Outside can still be a little overwhelming for the little guy, but with patience and lots of positive reinforcement, and maybe a four legged friend to go with, no doubt he'll learn to love his daily walks.
Akira would do best in a home with a family who will take the time to continue his training and building his confidence in a positive way, and who wants a buddy to stick by their side and give them all the love! Does he sound like your perfect sidekick?
