Are you looking for a slow-moving, big-hearted friend? Meet Almond, the beautiful senior sweetheart from Sioux Empire Pit Rescue! Once found on the brink of death, this resilient girl was emaciated, suffering from skin and ear infections, and missing large patches of fur. Now, her ears look great, and she is healing wonderfully. Through it all, her greatest desire has been the love and companionship of humans.

Almond has a special fondness for all things soft, slow, and plush—after all, who can blame her after everything she has endured? They say good things come in small packages, and in Almond's case, this perfect little pea is an abundance of sweetness. She loves the safety of her kennel but enjoys hanging out near her humans the most.

​

After undergoing major dental work, Almond regained her appetite and has developed a love for food, treats, and, of course, fun chew toys! Her manners are excellent; she greets everyone with her feet on the floor and her tongue in her mouth. Everyone she meets is a friend, and she adores a good field trip to see what's going on! Almond is quite the shopper and loves to join in on errands. In the car, she is quiet and observant, soaking in the sights. She doesn’t mind if you stop for a little treat along the way, either!

Almond enjoys gardening with her foster family and is always eager to lend a paw when it comes to digging! Family gatherings are her favorite, as she makes sure everyone has a chance to give her some scratches. She gets along fabulously with her foster sister and the neighbor's dog too. Her foster family is thrilled to see how playful and spry she has become now that she feels so much better!
