about ANNA
From the bustling streets of Dallas, Texas, to the open skies of South Dakota, Anna’s journey has been one of quiet courage and second chances. This lovely girl made her way north through a volunteer relay, each stop bringing her closer to safety, love, and the chance to truly exhale.

While we may never know the full story of her early life, one thing is clear: Anna has weathered a lot and is learning that the world can be safe again. When she first arrived in her foster home, she was a very nervous little girl around new people and new surroundings. But with time, patience, and a calm, quiet environment, Anna has begun to blossom.

Anna is a tender-hearted soul wrapped in soft fur and gentle shyness. She likes to take things a little slower in new environments, but once her trust is earned, she will absolutely melt your heart with the happiest full-body wiggle you’ve ever seen. Though she’s a medium-sized pup, Anna is convinced she’s lap-sized and loves curling up close for a quiet nap. In her foster home, she’s earned the nickname “Princess Anna” — and it fits her perfectly.

She’s learning the routines of home life like a pro. Anna is calm and quiet as a church mouse in her kennel and has done wonderfully with extended time in it. When her foster family is home, she relaxes loose in her kennel room during rotation, as she is not yet fully integrated with their dogs while she continues building confidence. At night, Anna rotates sleeping in her foster’s bedroom. She’s very polite about sharing the bed and will sometimes choose to climb down to her dog bed on her own, or happily go there when asked.
The world can still feel overwhelming for Anna at times. Living near a busy highway has been a big adjustment, and large trucks and loud vehicles initially startled her. But week by week, she’s making progress and growing more accustomed to the noise. Small steps are big victories for this girl. She is currently attending training focused on calming skills and confidence building, and she continues to show meaningful improvement.

Anna would thrive in a quiet, structured home with a patient and understanding adopter who is willing to let her set the pace. She doesn’t need a busy lifestyle. She enjoys car rides and is an excellent passenger. She loves peaceful walks in the woods and has done well with walks around town, though she clearly prefers quieter areas. She’s also perfectly content lounging around the house with her people. And true to her princess status, she is not a fan of the cold. She’ll happily go outside to potty but is quick to request re-entry. No snow bunny here.

A confident resident dog could be a wonderful support for Anna, as she has shown she does well with canine friends and previously lived peacefully with both dogs and cats.

What Anna truly needs most is a steady routine, a safe space, and a human who understands that some of the deepest bonds are built slowly and intentionally. Once she feels secure, her loyal and loving personality shines through. She will reward your patience with gentle kisses, soft sighs of contentment, and that signature joyful wiggle that says, “You’re my person.”

This little girl is incredibly sweet and so very worth it.
