Arthur has faced some tough challenges in his life, but he’s ready to turn a new page. After losing his beloved brother and previous home, this charming pup found himself at a southern shelter, heartworm positive and feeling down on his luck. However, one look into Arthur's deep brown eyes and those big, expressive ears, and we knew he deserved a good Samaritan to help him find his happiness again.

Did you know Arthur has survived a hurricane? After that harrowing experience, he made the long journey to South Dakota in search of his forever home. Despite all the upheaval, this gentle soul is all about the chill life. Arthur thrives on his daily adventures filled with tug-of-war, fetch, invigorating walks, scenic hikes, and delightful snuggles followed by coma-inducing belly rubs.

Arthur enjoys the companionship of his canine foster sister and has experience previously living with four felines as well. Like most dogs, Arthur flourishes with good leadership and structure in his relationships with both dogs and cats. However, he can be a bit excitable and impulsive—traits typical of young terrier—but with clear boundaries and some strong guidance, he quickly learns the ropes.

Arthur is kennel trained, potty trained, and does exceptionally well on a leash. While he may initially pout and whine when settling into his kennel, he calms down quickly and is eager to please. With the right motivation, this handsome gentleman can transform into an exuberant playtime buddy, but don’t worry—he knows how to unwind just as hard!

We're excited to share that Arthur is now heartworm negative and has received a clean bill of health! Like many of us, he does have some minor seasonal allergies that can be easily managed with daily Benadryl and Zyrtec. Now that he's cleared for more activities and adventures, we're working on boosting his confidence around strangers, particularly men. He wants to be brave, and with time and patience, we know he will shine!
