The perfect mix of sass and class, meet Audrey Hepburn! When Audrey came into our care, it was clear that she had been on her own for a while. Severely underweight and riddled with skin issues, none of this seemed to phase her. She has such a love for ALL people, so much so that she had to heal from a pretty bad case of happy tail. Audrey had no problem adjusting to life in her foster home and seemed to enjoy the peacefulness of it, compared the high-stress shelter environment she was in. Learning to love her crate is something we had to work on and she will now go in willingly most of the time. Throw some treats or a Kong in there and you will have this girl’s full attention!

Also don’t let this girl’s age fool you... she comes with the energy of a puppy and the chill that comes with an older pup. You can often find her doing zoomies around the house or backyard, squeaking her favorite toy. Did we mention, this girl is smart?! She came to us knowing all of her basic commands. She knows sit, come, down, place, look and wait. Audrey even knows some fun commands like shake and rollover. With her smarts and her energy level, we think she would be a great pup to try agility with. Since this lady has so much “spring” in her step, she has to monitored closely when she is outside, even in a fenced in area. She has been known to easily clear a 6-foot privacy fence, so her new owner will always need to be outside for monitoring and fun.

Audrey has been diagnosed with some thyroid issues and IBD (irritable bowel disease). Both are easily controlled with a daily oral medication and dehydrated dog food. She had wanted to keep her movie star thin waist line, but we have convinced her a little "meat on your bones" can also be a good thing. We all wish we had Audrey's high metabolism, but with the proper medications and nutrition this girl is finally starting to feel like her best movie star self! We know this might sound crazy scary to handle, but it truly is not.

 

Audrey has had limited interactions with the resident dogs in the home. She seems to prefer being the queen of her castle and soaking up all of her humans attention. However, Audrey has also been on pack walks with other SEPR pups and had no adverse reactions to any of the dogs. Ideally, a home with no other pets would be ideal for this movie star or possibly a very laid back male co-star that is not wanting to steal her lime light.

 

Audrey has loved every human she has met so far and you will never find a dog more excited to see you.
