about CHEETO
Flamin’ hot on the outside, ooey-gooey soft on the inside — meet Cheeto, a goofy, snuggle-loving hunk who’s traded shelter life for the good life… and he’s soaking up every minute.

After months in animal control, waiting for an owner who never came back, Cheeto has blossomed in foster care. Once quiet and downhearted, he now bounds around the yard with zoomies, chases his favorite human Harley up and down the fence line, and greets visitors with a happy tail wag. He’s an easygoing guy who’s happiest simply being with his people — whether that’s lounging on the sofa, sunbathing in the backyard, or melting into a good belly rub.

Cheeto loves kids of all ages, though his enthusiasm sometimes outpaces his size awareness — smaller kiddos might get swept up in a tail wag or toppled during a zoomie run. He’s also a hit at neighborhood gatherings, soaking up attention without being overwhelmed.

On the training front, Cheeto’s got great leash manners (he’ll even adjust his pace to match yours) and is working on commands in different environments. Potty training is going well, and he’s conquered his kennel anxiety with a simple trick: leaving the bedroom door open so he can hear what’s going on in the house. Alone time still isn’t his favorite, but he’s making steady progress.

He’s had polite meet-and-greets with other dogs, done well with a small Chihuahua, and is excited to walk alongside the family’s welcoming Jack Russell. Cats? He’s still in the “chase first, ask questions later” stage, so slow introductions are key.

Cheeto’s health is on the upswing, too — his paws look great, the hair on his tail tip is growing back, and he’s even gotten better about eyedrops and paw handling. While his gait is a bit stiff and he tires quickly on walks, it doesn’t stop him from enjoying backyard squirrel chases, bone-chewing sessions, and car rides (he’s the perfect co-pilot, ears flapping in the breeze).

Cheeto is a lover, not a fighter — a big, affectionate goof who’s been through the hard times and is more than ready for the good ones. If you’re looking for a loyal snuggle buddy with a side of zoomies, a road trip pal, and a guy who just wants to be where the people are… Cheeto’s your dude.
