about flapjack
Not long ago, Flapjack was out of time.

He waited quietly in a cold shelter—not because he’d done anything wrong, but because the system had run out of space, compassion, and second chances. His body told the story: scars, a broken tooth, untreated infections, and a tumor. And yet… his tail still wagged. He still leaned in for love. He still believed in people.

We saw him. We couldn’t look away. And now—he’s safe.
Today, Flapjack is thriving in a loving foster home, healing both physically and emotionally. His tooth and tumor removals are fully healed, his tummy troubles are long gone, and his gentle, soulful spirit has only grown stronger.

Flapjack is a calm, easygoing companion who lives for human connection. He adores belly rubs, car rides, and “garage time”—his personal happy place—often with his favorite blue rabbit toy in tow like a security blanket. Whether lounging in the yard like the neighborhood watch captain or relaxing in the grass, he’s perfectly content to simply be near his people.

Inside, Flapjack is a polite houseguest. He’s completely potty trained (he even trained himself to use the bell on the door to ask to go out) and walks beautifully on leash for his preferred distance—about a mile—before happily calling it a day. With his charming bow legs, he’s more of a leisurely stroller than a long-distance hiker.

He knows several commands—sit, down, and look—and is eager to please. Ask him to kennel up, and he’ll trot right in. His foster family reports he’s easy to handle, cooperative for nail trims, and a total pro with routines.

Flapjack takes new experiences in stride. He’s been unfazed by barking dogs, polite with other pups during careful introductions, and respectful when meeting a cat (the cat, however, had more opinions). He’s also been calm around visiting grandchildren, ages 2 to 9, preferring to quietly coexist or soak up gentle attention.

While he’s a healthy weight and in great condition, Flapjack does sometimes show a bit of stiffness in his back legs. His foster family is exploring supportive options to keep him comfortable for years to come.
More than anything, Flapjack is chasing something deeper than squirrels: love, comfort, and the life he almost lost. He’s the perfect mix of playful and peaceful, independent yet deeply connected, and ready to fill a home with quiet joy.

This is what rescue looks like. This is what love does.
