about HARMONY

UPDATE - AUGUST 2026: HARMONEY NEEDS A NEW HOME.

Eight years after being adopted from Sioux Empire Pit Rescue, Harmony is returning to our care. At 11 years old, this sweet senior girl once again needs a family to call her own.

Harmony has spent the last eight years as a deeply loved member of her family. She has known the comfort of a home, a familiar routine, her favorite toys, car rides, walks and, most importantly, being someone’s beloved dog. Due to changes within her family, they are no longer able to provide Harmony with the home she needs moving forward.

Our greatest hope is to find Harmony an adoptive home before August 29, allowing her to transition directly from the only home she has known for the past eight years into the home where she will spend the rest of her life.

Now 11 years old, Harmony still has plenty of life and personality in her. She enjoys walks and car rides, loves her squeaky toys, and is equally happy settling in and relaxing with her people. She is affectionate, devoted and very much enjoys simply being part of the family.

Harmony previously lived with a male Border Collie and may be able to share her home with a compatible male dog following SEPR’s normal introduction and integration process. Her history with cats is unknown.

As Harmony enters her senior years, we are looking for a quieter adult home without young children where she can enjoy consistency, companionship and a comfortable routine. She deserves a home that understands that senior dogs may move through life a little differently, but the love they have to give is every bit as enormous.

The biography below is Harmony’s original adoption profile from eight years ago. We have chosen to leave it here because it is part of her story and because so much of the sweet, affectionate girl described all those years ago is still Harmony today.

Harmony gave one family eight wonderful years. Now she needs someone willing to give her the rest of hers.

Meet Harmony!  What is harmony: a pleasant musical sound made by different notes being played or sung at the same time. This sweet girl embodies this definition to the fullest.  She brings her own distinct personality that melds with her foster family and her four legged foster brother!

Harmony absolutely loves attention and does a great job at matching their activity level in any situation! Harmony loves to play fetch, chew on bones, and play with her stuffed toys.  She has learned to wait for her food, kennel up, sit, look and lay down. She is practicing leave it, drop, and stay. Harmony is a smart girl who is potty trained and is learning very quickly.

Harmony’s foster mom has said she is great on a leash. She sometimes needs some redirection from barking dogs or squirrels, but overall Harmony is a gem on the leash!  Harmony enjoys car rides!  She has been known to bounce around the car, but she is learning to settle in and enjoy car time instead.

Overall, this beauty is settling in to foster life wonderfully!  In her down time she enjoys a game of tug or she can be content with her ball alone.  Harmony wants nothing more to show you some love by leaning into you while she gets some petting. Harmony is still new to our foster program and hasn’t yet spent time around cats or kids yet, but she will in the near future.  Harmony would love a family who can help her burn off her energy with games, play, or walks everyday, and be her new best friend forever!
