about HOT COCOA
Just like his name suggests, Hot Cocoa is sweet, comforting, and best enjoyed close by.

Cocoa came to us from Georgia after a difficult start, unsure of the world around him and overwhelmed by new environments. When he first arrived in foster care, even simple things, walking through the house, going outside, or navigating stairs, felt like big, scary hurdles. But with patience, consistency, and a calm, loving home, Cocoa has been quietly rewriting his story.

In just a short time, he’s gone from freezing in place to confidently heading outside on his own, coming back inside without help, and even letting his foster family know when it’s time for a potty break. He’s handled frequent vet visits and medical treatment with grace, remaining gentle, affectionate, and eager to be near his people every step of the way.

Cocoa is currently undergoing heartworm treatment and, for now, requires restricted activity while his body heals. He has also recently been diagnosed with low thyroid and is on medication to help his skin and coat return to a healthier, shinier state. As part of his senior care, he will also be completing dental work soon to ensure he’s feeling his very best moving forward.

Despite being a little more seasoned in years, Cocoa has a wonderful zest for life that feels puppy-like in all the best ways. He’s soaking up every new experience, every soft bed, and every bit of love with pure joy and gratitude. He’s learning routines, settling well in his kennel, and continuing to build confidence each day.

Hot Cocoa didn’t just travel north from Georgia, he arrived ready to learn what it means to feel safe, loved, and at home. And once you meet him, you’ll understand why everyone who knows him says the same thing: this boy has a heart of pure gold.
