about INDIANA BONES
Indiana Bones has officially left his shelter days in the dust and is ready for the adventure of a lifetime… to find his very own perfect family! This joyful goofball does everything with zest and, thanks to his quirky back legs, moves with the swagger of a tipsy Captain Jack Sparrow. But don’t tell him, Indy has no idea there’s anything different about him. His zest for life is unstoppable and his spirit shines brighter than any challenge he’s faced.
Before arriving at SEPR, Indiana Bones was found in Sioux City in rough shape, likely struck by a vehicle at some point in his past. When he entered the shelter, he couldn’t even walk. Today, seeing him bounce, wiggle, zoom, and romp is nothing short of a miracle. He still has some neurological quirks in his back legs and always will, but this brave boy has come further than anyone ever imagined. Acupuncture sessions have helped improve his gait, and he takes gabapentin to support mobility and reduce anxiety, along with fluoxetine to ease kennel stress. He may move a little differently, but to him, every step is a celebration.
Indie settled into foster life quickly and has proven to be a sharp, eager learner. He’s mastered sit, lay, come, stay, touch, leave it, and heel and is always ready for the next challenge. His potty training and manners are excellent. Crate training is still a work in progress (his FOMO is strong), but with positive crate games, routine, and medication support, he’s getting more confident every week. That said, if he can nap on the couch near his people? Perfect. Bliss. Dream achieved.
Indiana is a fun mix of playful puppy energy and gentle cuddle buddy. He loves chasing the flirt pole, playing with toys, or goofing around with his foster dog friends, then melts right into snuggles, naps, or a good chew once playtime winds down. He rides beautifully in the car, greets people politely, and has never met a human, especially a tiny two-legged one, he didn’t immediately adore. He gets along wonderfully with the dogs in his foster home, though he can be a little reactive to unfamiliar dogs up close. Cats? Too exciting, so a feline-free home is best for everyone.
Indiana’s ideal home is one where he can be near his people as much as possible, someone who works from home, has a flexible schedule, or is looking for a joyful full-time copilot. He thrives on companionship, routine, and feeling included in the action. With the right family, he will continue to blossom and show the world just how incredible a “second-chance dog” can be.
He’ll be your adventure buddy, your couch snuggler, your plate-cleaning partner, and your personal toy-unstuffing expert. And most importantly, he’ll be your little miracle with the biggest heart.
If you're ready for a loyal sidekick whose happiness is contagious and whose resilience leaves everyone cheering for him, Indiana Bones is ready to leap, wiggly swagger and all, straight into your heart.
