Better than “Josie and the Pussycats”…. Meet SEPR’s Josie!!

 

Josie ended up in the local bustling shelter, where the echoes of barks filled the air like a lively melody. There anxiously waiting was a beautiful blonde and white furred lady which later would be named Josie.  But you see, for social dogs like Josie, who have a hard time adjusting to chaotic, loud places like the shelter, she was placed the on the euthanasia list and in desperate need of a savior. Luckily, she caught the eye of the rescue’s volunteers and they just knew she deserved so much more and a chance to shine to prove to everyone what a great girl she actually is.

Like a power ballad from a forgotten era, Josie’s excitement is palpable. Her tail is always wagging like the rhythm from a catchy tune, thus earning her the affectionate nickname "Wiggles." She is crate trained and will eagerly go right in with a stuffed kong and treats. She fills her days by self-entertaining with all her toys, balls, and bones which have become her backstage props. Though bath time and nail clippings were more like slow ballads she had to endure, she manages to tolerate them with grace—because she knows the spotlight is worth it.

Every day is a new opportunity for adventure. Josie loves her walks, with each sniff a new lyric in the song of the world around her. She presents a bit like a bowling ball on the playground—excitable and full of life, ready to roll through any obstacle in her path. Because of Josie's "excitable" energy her ideal home would be one on the calmer side with maybe 1 or 2 older dog savvy teenagers. The little kiddos cause too much excitement for Josie and she prefers the older ones that can play a good game of tug or can handle her exuberant, excitable, toy loving,  "bull in a china" shop type of personality. 

 

Josie loves to make “wookie” sounds when she plays with her toys, insisting her humans join in on the fun. She has learned to settle down, too, finding comfort in couch time and TV watching, her soft snores adding a soothing harmony to the evening. She has graduated from a round of SEPR’s "train-a-bull" class, mastering skills like “look,” “sit,” and “lay”—proof that this little rock star was not only lovable but smart as a whip.

Josie has only had a couple of minor medical needs in the past which have all cleared up. She dreams of car rides with the windows cracked, the wind ruffling her fur as she gazes at the horizon. She would also love a home that wouldn't mind her "cleaning" their tub or shower by licking all the left over water! Although not necessary she wouldn’t mind a cool, easy-going male playmate to join her on life’s escapades—a puppers who would appreciate her exuberance and enjoy the thrill of a good play session.

Josie is more than just a dog; she is a testament to resilience, a true rock star waiting for her encore. With every wag of her tail, she reminds everyone that love and joy can conquer even the toughest of circumstances. Now, she just needs someone to join her on this wild journey, turning every day into a concert of laughter, play, and unforgettable memories. Won’t you be her “band mate” forever?
