Lars is a giant baby in the best possible way! Sweet, playful, and endlessly loyal, this big, beautiful boy is ready to find the forever family he’s always deserved.

Fully potty trained and very light on a leash, Lars is a joy to take out and about. He may bounce around to let you know there’s another dog nearby, but he’s practicing his “look” command and gaining confidence every day. He’s learning to focus more on his person and less on the dogs he passes, and he’s making wonderful progress!

​

Lars is also crate-trained and knows his basic commands. He’s an incredibly fast learner who is working hard on his manners and growing into the wonderful dog we know he’s meant to be. He’s highly motivated by treats and praise, which makes him a dream to train.

​

More than anything, Lars loves being with his people. Whether you’re heading out for a walk or just relaxing at home, he’ll happily be your loyal shadow. Not in the mood to leave the couch? That’s perfectly fine with him. While he enjoys both physical and mental stimulation, he’s just as content snuggling into his primary human, or a furry sister, and napping the day away.

​

His other big love? Stuffies! Lars is goofy and playful with his stuffed animals, yet unbelievably gentle. He hasn’t de-fluffed a single one or removed a squeaker! For a 90-pound boy to toss and chase stuffed animals so enthusiastically without destroying them… well, if you’ve ever had a big dog, you already know how rare (and hilarious) that is.

Lars lives happily with two senior, medium-sized foster sisters. His only complaint is that they’re a bit too old to keep up with his playful spirit! He is wonderful with boundaries and very gentle, careful not to play too rough. He’s grateful for their licks and snuggles and would do well with a medium or large furry playmate or snuggly sibling. We believe he would thrive in a home with larger animals, as he does think chasing is a blast—and whether it’s accidental trampling or actually catching something, small fluffy creatures are unfortunately just too hard for him to resist.

Lars has also lived part-time with a five-year-old human. While it took some time and consistent reminders from both parties to be gentle, he absolutely adores her and would love a child to bond with.

His heart is as big as his paws, and he’s more than ready to give it fully to someone who won’t give up on him. He can occasionally come off as aloof, but we promise he is anything but. Once he knows you are safe and kind, he becomes the ultimate Velcro dog. He loves his people deeply and is the ABSOLUTE BEST cuddler.

Lars is ready for someone to take a chance on him, someone who will offer the loyalty he gives so freely. For such a big dog, he takes up surprisingly little space; he’s almost always curled up in a tiny ball.

​
