Nell is a little older gal who landed herself in a busy shelter being a black dog. Strike one and strike two. With the COV-19 closures her longevity in the shelter was being questioned. SEPR could not stand the thought of her to be euthanized. Nell arrived with nails long enough they had began to curl and a horrible abscessed canine tooth. Beauty spa day has happened for a good bathing, nails, and lots of love. Monday, March 30th her teeth will be fixed and hopefully the pain she has endured soon fading into her past. 

 

Nell is a wonderful little lady who just wants to be by your side all the time! Talk about velcro dog! Nell’s favorite thing to do is to roll in the grass in the sun.  She would spend all day soaking up the sun if she could!

 

Nell came in with some medical issues that had her supper skinny but she is now on a regular eating schedule and doing well. She has been diagnosed with IBD irritable bowel disease and will need to be on medication and a special diet most likely for life. She takes one cyclosporine pill daily and eats a dehydrated dog food called Spot Farms to help control her stomach and intestinal issue. This is easy to maintain now that it has been diagnosed, so don't be discouraged about loving and adopting her! 

 

She is interested in the neighbor dogs and squirrels, but does well with recall to come back to her favorite human.  Nell lives with a male and female dog and does really well with them! Sharing the couch and favorite sun bathing spots is no problem.  However, she does like her space and will let them know if they are crowding her.  Since Nell came in so sick, she's a little behind on the rules of the house; however, she is catching onto the daily routine quickly.  Nell will sit nicely for her food and it’s a work in progress for going through the doorway to go outside.  She is starting to get the hang of her gentle leader and since she is getting better, we are getting to go out for some walks.  This is a work in progress and with practice she’ll get the hang of it, but she loves to explore the neighborhood!
