about PAPI

Hi I’m SEPR’s latest big hitter, Papi! Just like my namesake, David Ortiz “Big Papi”, I’m a big guy and have hit home runs with everyone I’ve met, if I do say so myself. I have had a rough go the last few months with some season ending injuries (being shot in the jaw and leg from some crazy adoring fan), but I’m ready to move on to rehab and find the best forever home I can.

I love, and I mean LOVE, all people. Foster mom says that like most block-heads, I don’t realize my size. But I am the perfect lap dog. After months of unhelpful rehab, I recently had to have my front leg amputated since the bullet had done too much extensive damage to my knee joint. I still get so excited to get outside; however, that sometimes I still pull on my leash. I listen really well and I try my best to be a perfect gentleman and give all the people in the house kisses whenever I can, just so they know I still appreciate them after my surgery.

My foster family and great babysitters I’ve stayed with realized I was having some minor seizure type activity. After a handful of small documented videos and consulting a seizure specialist I got the wonderful news I just have idiopathic head tremors instead. What the heck is that, do you ask? They are involuntary muscle contractions involving the head and neck. My tremors are benign and cause no pain or distress with no short or long term effect! It's all part of my charm for the ladies. Needless to say between my tremors and leg amputation a lower key retirement village would be appreciated that I can kick back and watch the daily game on the TV with my family.

Since we’ve been dealing with my bum (now amputated) leg since I arrived, I haven’t had much of a chance to work on my leash manners, but that is coming! I don’t mind my crate at all, but a few treats are always nice little reward. I rarely bark in my crate, and have no accidents in the house or crate! Like I said, I’m a pretty big deal :). I’m a laid-back guy that goes along with just about anything that’s thrown my way. However, I may show a strong tendency to not want to share my food or favorite things with other canines. After such a tumultuous game history and crazy fans, I hope you understand my reason for being protective of the things I value. I’ve had my fair share of curve balls and smashed them out of the park!

This is just a short stop on my way to the major leagues, a forever home, but I’m going to show everyone what a star I can be no matter where I am or how many legs I have! I love meeting and making new fans, and I’m great at showing my appreciation! I hope to meet you soon!
