Just like his namesake from The Lion King, Rafiki has a special way of helping others discover the very best version of themselves. Wise? Well... he's still a young guy with plenty of playful energy! But he's absolutely ready to guide one lucky family toward a lifetime of laughter, adventure, and unconditional love.

Rafiki spent nearly a year waiting in a Georgia shelter before making the journey north with our Lion King transport. While so many dogs came and went, this handsome boy patiently waited for someone to finally see him. Now it's his turn to shine.

​

Around 2-3 years old, Rafiki is the kind of dog who makes every day a little brighter. He's incredibly smart, eager to learn, and genuinely enjoys training. Whether you're teaching him something new, tossing a ball around the yard, or simply relaxing on the couch, Rafiki is happiest when he's included.

​

His favorite things? Belly rubs, car rides, adventures with his people, lounging on the sofa like he owns it, playing fetch, and earning tasty salmon treats. He also has a wonderfully affectionate side and firmly believes he's lap-dog sized.

​

Since arriving in foster care, Rafiki has made remarkable progress. He's learning household routines, settled beautifully into home life, and continues to grow more confident every week. He has done well with respectful canine companions and his excitement around cats has improved tremendously with guidance and structure.

​

Like many dogs who spend long periods in a shelter, Rafiki appreciates consistency, clear communication, and having his own space when enjoying meals. In return, he offers an incredible willingness to learn and a genuine desire to connect with his people. He thrives with positive reinforcement and is the type of dog who wants to make you proud.

​

Rafiki isn't looking for perfection, he's looking for someone willing to build a partnership. If you're searching for a loyal companion who loves to learn, enjoys an active lifestyle, and will happily curl up beside you at the end of the day, Rafiki may be the missing piece of your family.
