about ray
Ray is a true survivor with a heart full of love and a personality that’s equal parts charming and silly. When he first arrived, he was recovering from pneumonia and heartworm treatment—unsure of his new surroundings and a little shy. But true to his name, Ray quickly brightened the world around him with his gentle spirit, curiosity, and unshakable will to thrive.

These days, Ray is a total cuddle bug who believes every lap was made for him. If he fits, he sits—and he definitely fits, even if you're already there. Personal space? Never heard of it! He follows his foster mom everywhere, always ready to sneak in kisses or lean in for a full-body hug.

Ray’s growing more confident every day, learning how to be respectful with his foster brother (he’s working on the whole “2-feet-apart-on-the-couch” thing) and figuring out how to share attention and affection. While he might be a bit shy in new environments—like the pet store or meeting new people—he still turns on the charm for cuddles. One event-goer said he seemed unsure of men, but back at home, Ray loves hanging out with his foster mom’s sons, doling out affection freely.

This clever boy has mastered “sit” (especially if treats are involved) and is working on “down”—but don’t expect results without a high-value snack. Ray thinks all treats should be his and will try to sneak back in line after he’s had one, hoping for seconds. Just watch your fingers—he gets a little excited when his favorite goodies come out!

Ray enjoys his nylabones and Benebones, chews them with gusto, and loves sunshine... unless someone nearby starts popping fireworks, in which case he’ll politely suggest you both go back inside. He’s not a fan of loud noises, but he’s learning how to cope with the world at his own pace.

When it comes to toys, Ray has had quite the glow-up. At first, he ignored them all—except for stealing dryer balls during laundry time. Now, he’ll grab a toy, prance proudly back to his favorite spot, and settle in to play. His current favorite is a very well-loved stuffed monster that’s survived many “attacks.” He also enjoys a little yard time with the frisbee—he’ll happily run after it and then launch into zoomies, though he usually leaves the “fetching” part to his foster mom. He’s still figuring out toys like the flirt pole and tennis balls, often choosing to watch instead of join in, but his playful side keeps growing.

Out on walks, Ray is a curious and observant boy. He recently spotted a bunny hiding in a yard and, instead of barking or lunging, simply stood still and watched quietly. When he encountered a barking dog behind a fence, he was more interested in his treats than the commotion, making crossing the street a breeze—well, almost. (Ray would prefer to sit for snacks instead of walking while eating.) He’s also encountered a stray cat with zero reaction, showing he can keep his cool when unexpected things pop up.

Ray continues to be a sweet companion with people he knows. He loved seeing his foster mom’s son during a recent visit and soaked up every bit of attention.

Ray is looking for a patient, loving home where he can continue to grow, share his love, and soak up all the affection you have to offer. His perfect day? A sunny nap, a tasty chew, a few training treats, some goofy zoomies, and as many snuggles as you’ll give.
