about ray
Ray is a true ray of sunshine warm, steady, and quietly joyful. When he first arrived, he was recovering from pneumonia and heartworm treatment. Today, Ray is heartworm negative, healthy, and thriving, ready to soak up the good life he’s worked so hard for. Ray quickly brightens the world around him with his gentle spirit, curiosity, and unshakable will to thrive.

Ray is a devoted cuddle companion who believes the best place to be is right next to his person. He happily shares the couch, follows his foster mom from room to room, and leans in for affection whenever it’s offered. Personal space is optional in Ray’s world.

As his confidence has grown, so has his playful side. Ray enjoys yard time, zoomies, light frisbee play, and has a special love for cardboard boxes and chew toys. When he finds something he values, he prefers to take it to a cozy spot and enjoy it on his own.

Ray knows look, sit, come, sit up, down and understands “kennel,” and he continues to improve with patience and consistency. He does best in environments where humans provide clear structure around food, toys, and shared spaces, allowing him to relax and feel secure when other canines are present.

Ray currently lives with other dogs and does well in a structured household with clear leadership. He is most comfortable with calm, respectful canine companions and appreciates dogs who understand boundaries. Higher-energy or overly pushy play styles can be overwhelming for him, and he does best when humans actively manage interactions and shared resources. With proper guidance, Ray coexists successfully and settles well alongside other dogs.

On walks and in the yard, Ray is observant and responsive. He has shown neutral reactions to other animals and wildlife and listens well when redirected, even around distractions.

Ray would thrive in a calm, low-key home that appreciates a dog who is affectionate, easygoing, and full of quiet charm. His perfect day includes sunshine, a good chew, gentle activity, and plenty of time curled up with his people.

Ray’s light keeps getting brighter, all he needs now is a home to shine in.
