After a long wait for a foster home to open up, we are finally able to formally introduce Rocko!
Rocko has the colorings of your favorite pint of rocky road ice cream, and is just as sweet…..although you might not know it by looking at him. Rocko came in to the shelter in rough shape, suffering from significant allergies causing secondary skin infections, and substantial hair loss. After several rounds of medication to tackle the skin infections, daily apoquel, quality grain free food, Rocko is on the upswing! He does still have large portions of missing hair, but he is happy to report his peach fuzz is starting to grow back in, with some time he will hopefully have a full coat again. With allergies and skin conditions, bath time is important, but don’t worry it’s not a problem for Rocko. He will gladly hop in the tub for some treats, and a licki mat to occupy him while he is bathed with medicated shampoo to help his skin and coat stay healthy.
Now that he has finally found a foster home, and is on his way to becoming healthy again, Rocko is settling in and learning the ropes, he isn’t wasting any time, he likes to make sure people see him and hear him. He has been working very hard on not jumping on people when he is excited, and also learning that not everyone likes to hear him bark when he is excited…. he’s just trying to make up for lost time. He is very food motivated, so training time is easy, he picked up on sit and wait right away, and we are certain he will master other commands very soon.
Once he settles in more, Rocko will begin to meet the other resident canines of the house, and begin to venture out in public. There’s a diamond in the ruff, we just need to polish him up. Be sure to check back for updates on his rags to riches story.
