about RUCKUS
Looking for a little excitement and a whole lot of love? Meet SEPR Ruckus!
Ruckus may not have had the kindest start in life, but this resilient boy is all about moving forward. He came from a cruelty case involving multiple animals and suffered significant injuries, including a femoral head fracture and severe ear trauma. Despite everything he endured, Ruckus has never lost his joyful spirit. He is a survivor in every sense of the word, and his heart is wide open.
Since rescue, Ruckus has had an FHO (femoral head ostectomy) and has fully recovered with no lasting mobility issues. He runs, plays, and adventures just like any other happy pup. His ears, however, require ongoing care due to scar tissue and chronic infections. He currently does well on a grain-free diet and may need long-term allergy support such as Apoquel to keep him comfortable.
Ruckus settled into foster life like a pro. He thrives on routine, is food-motivated, and quickly picked up basic commands. He’s crate trained, keeps his space clean, and appreciates a comfy Kuranda bed and a predictable schedule.
Adventures are his favorite. Walks, hikes, pack strolls, brewery patios, if you’re going, he wants to come along. Ruckus is incredibly social and absolutely loves people. Expect full-body wiggles, enthusiastic kisses, and a dog who firmly believes personal space is optional, especially if there’s a couch involved. If you’re sitting down, he’s sitting on you.
He adores other dogs and has done well with both large and small canine companions. While he doesn’t currently live with cats, he previously coexisted with them. With dog friends, he can sometimes be a bit energetic and may need reminders to tone down the enthusiastic face-licking, but his intentions are always sweet.
A few important notes: Ruckus has significant PICA (a tendency to ingest non-food items). Because of this, he will need a vigilant home that manages toys and household items carefully. He has required medical intervention in the past after swallowing pieces of a toy, and supervision will be essential for his safety. He also has an elongated soft palate, which gives him some “snorkely” breathing sounds and means activity in high heat or humidity should be monitored.
Ruckus will do best in a home that appreciates a little management in exchange for a whole lot of love. He is affectionate, loyal, hilarious, and deeply bonded to his people. With structure, supervision, and continued care, he absolutely thrives.
With his stocky build, playful energy, and heart of gold, Ruckus isn’t defined by his past, he’s defined by his resilience.
