Serenity, is the state of being calm, peaceful, and untroubled. When this girl was found almost starved and injured after wandering onto a rural Georgia farm, she was still just as serene and calm as an abused dog could be. While Serenity has already endured some major medical procedures, from enucleation to heartworm treatment, she quietly observes the world happening around her.

 

Day by day, we continue to show this girl a more tranquil and peaceful environment, allowing her to heal and become a dog! Serenity's eye surgery has completely healed, and she is almost done with heartworm treatment. Her time in foster, has been quiet and low-key in her day-to-day life to allow time to rest.

 

True to her nature, Serenity continues to evolve and thrive in her new foster family. Not much upsets this girl, from the felines, canines, and humans she is surrounded with daily. She can act puppy-like, exploring and trying to figure out everything in her new life. Serenity likes to use her mouth to test out what each new item and object is in her home. She is curious and can be playful when she begins to settle in.

 

Serenity is house-trained and crate-trained. She enjoys the companionship of other canines in and out of her kennel, so her new home should have at least one friendly four-legged friend. Serenity pays zero attention to felines or any other animal out and about. Exploration has been minimal with heartworm treatment, but she has no actual terrier drive.

 

Commands have been slow, with one major surgery focusing on needed health treatments. We have a solid sit and look. Laydown is in the works. She is very food-motivated but has a short attention span (think of a puppy again). With each command we conquer, you can tell she is very proud of herself. Likely, her previous world did not include human commands or training.

 

Day by day, we watch her begin to blossom. Snuggles and affection take time to earn, but she loves a warm lap and a good movie once she is ready to settle in. A family willing to give this girl the time she needs to trust and adjust would be ideal. While she can be playful for short bursts, a slower, quieter home would be perfect.
