Named after the iconic Thomas Shelby from Peaky Blinders, this resilient pup is living proof that a rough beginning can lead to a beautiful new chapter.

Shelby’s story began in Georgia, where a compassionate shelter staff member saw hope shining through despite his fragile frame and emotional wounds. He arrived severely emaciated and covered in scars, both visible and invisible. Even then, his gentle heart never wavered. Shelby has always had room for trust, love, and a fresh start.

Shelby does have significant food allergies that went unmanaged for far too long. Today, with allergy testing, a carefully controlled diet, and daily cyclosporine, his allergies are well-managed and he’s feeling great. As long as he stays on his prescribed diet (Honest Kitchen dehydrated dog food) and medication, he continues to thrive.

Still a young guy, Shelby has a zest for life and truly flourishes with structure. After experiencing many changes early on, he finds comfort and confidence in a consistent routine. With crate training games, the support of medication, and a predictable daily schedule, Shelby has made tremendous progress. A home that values routine and clear expectations will help him continue to shine.

Shelby is quickly becoming quite the social superstar! He loves tagging along with his foster parents to a local brewery or co-piloting errands around town. He’s rocked SEPR’s big events like Corks & Collars and the Pride Parade. He adores people of all ages and has proven himself to be a true gentleman with cats.

Shelby is a happy-go-lucky guy with a goofy streak, always ready to be your partner in crime, loyal sidekick, cuddle buddy, or even your personal office assistant.
