Meet Shelly, a plump Georgia peach who’s currently transitioning from "street legend" to "spoiled house hippo." After four years of living life off the land and then getting stuck in shelters for 2 years, Shelly has decided to trade her homelessness for a gym membership and a chore chart.

Shelly is on a glow-up journey to lose the "extra fluff" and gain some manners, though she still thinks "polite" is just a suggestion. She is a highly spirited investigative reporter who wants to see, smell, and possibly taste everything the world has to offer. She loves all the humans she meets and other dogs of all sizes, but because she’s basically a caffeinated bowling ball, she might be a bit much for the tiny humans at this stage of her "best self" transformation.

Shelly’s Special Skills:

• The Snuggle Squeeze: She is an elite cuddler, but she does operate under "maritime law," meaning if she’s on the couch, it now belongs to her.

• Toy Critic: She loves toys of all kinds, but she’s still learning the difference between "indestructible rubber" and "delicious plushie stuffing." (Supervision is a must unless you want a living room that looks like a snow globe).

• Leash Progress: She’s gone from "sled dog dragging a human" to "mostly walking in the same direction as you." Shelly's leash skills get better and better each day so she would love a human who wants to continue helping her get out and see new things.

In true warrior fashion, Shelly is currently undergoing treatment for a tick-borne illness called Babesiosis. Even through treatment, her spirit has never wavered. Like everything else in this girl‘s life, she has approached treatment with true resiliency. She really does make us all wonder how such an amazing girl can go through so much and still be as sweet as she is!

Shelly is 100% ready to be your best friend, your hiking partner, and your personal space invader. There will be no shortage of laughs or love with this sweet girl! She’s just a spunky Georgia girl looking for a couch big enough for her and her big personality.
