about SNOW

Snow’s journey to safety was long, measured in both miles and healing. She arrived in our care after a transport from Georgia just after Christmas, anxious and overwhelmed, carrying not only the weight of her past but also significant medical needs that had gone untreated for far too long.

For more than two years, Snow lived in chronic pain following a traumatic injury to her ear that was never properly treated. The wound was closed without veterinary care, trapping a deep infection that continued to worsen over time. Eventually, the infection spread and created its own drainage tract through her neck. During much of this period, Snow was chained outdoors, exposed to the elements, and later diagnosed with heartworm disease, a condition she is now actively being treated for.

And yet, Snow endured.

When she stepped into her foster home, she was on multiple medications and already scheduled for major ear surgery to repair the extensive damage. Despite everything she had suffered, Snow showed us immediately just how remarkable she is.

During her two-week shutdown, Snow began to decompress and place her trust in her foster family. She proved herself to be gentle, patient, and deeply tolerant. House training came quickly once her medications stabilized, and she now comfortably goes more than nine hours without an accident. While kenneling isn’t her favorite, she settles with reassurance and now prefers sleeping on a tie-down at night, close to her people.

Snow handled surgery and recovery with quiet strength. Even during uncomfortable moments, she allowed wound care, medications, nail trims, and baths without a single growl or complaint. Her foster family often notes how trusting she is, you can examine her ears, her teeth, or administer medications, and she calmly allows it all (as long as she earns her “treat”).

As healing continues, Snow’s personality is beginning to shine. She is, first and foremost, a professional potato, a deep sleeper who won’t budge for vacuums, kitchen noise, or people stepping over her. But when her people come home, she lights up with full-body wiggles and her signature goofy little “high five” that melts hearts instantly.

Snow enjoys a simple, peaceful life. She loves chewing on bones, snoozing near her people, and quietly coexisting with her foster siblings Amos, a senior American Bulldog, and George, a senior pittie. Their relationship is best described as calm companionship, mostly centered around synchronized naps. Snow has never shown aggression, barking, or reactivity and approaches the world with a soft, trusting nature.

She’s also a thoughtful and intelligent girl. Training has just begun now that her physical restrictions are lifting, and Snow is already learning routines like sitting and waiting before meals. She learns quickly by watching her canine companions and shows great promise as her confidence continues to grow. With more exposure and warmer weather, her leash skills and recall are expected to improve nicely.

Snow’s story is intertwined with that of her brother Gooch, who is also part of the SEPR family. While their journeys are unfolding separately, their resilience and gentle spirits clearly run in the family.

Snow waited a very long time for comfort, safety, and kindness, and now that she has found them, she is blossoming beautifully. With continued care and patience, Snow will thrive in a home that values her quiet companionship, her resilience, and her sweet, wiggly joy.

Snow is ready for her forever, a future defined not by what she endured, but by the love ahead.
