Sonar is a bright, bouncy girl who came to SEPR from a rural Minnesota shelter — and she hasn’t slowed down since! With a heart full of spunk and a life lived at full speed, this little firecracker knows how to make every moment an adventure. From full-throttle zoomies in the yard to serenading you with kennel songs, she’s a pup that keeps the energy high and the smiles coming.

But don’t let her playful spirit fool you — Sonar has a soft side too. She loves her snuggle time. In true polite-lady fashion, she waits patiently until she gets the “ok” to hop up for movie night, then curls right in for the best cuddle session.

​

When it comes to toys, Sonar has her preferences. She’s not big on flirt poles — in fact, they make her a little nervous, so she’d rather skip them altogether. Frisbees sometimes spark her interest, but her real fun begins indoors, where she joyfully hops around playing with plush toys and bones. She doesn’t have just one favorite — she rotates between her plush fish, crinkle tea toy, and a well-loved Benebone that’s been chewed down with dedication.

On walks, Sonar is enthusiastic (sometimes a little too enthusiastic) and is currently polishing her leash manners. She’s also working hard on learning new commands and just aced her recent "Train-a-bull" class exceling in sit, look, lay down, come, sit up, and much more — though she came to rescue already potty trained and knowing how to sit like a pro. Smart cookie, anyone? 🍪

Sonar has recently begun meeting the other dogs in her foster home. She’s starting to sniff and explore gently with her foster brothers, though her foster mom supervises closely since Sonar is a petite girl and her housemates are much larger. She’s also shown interest in Dahlia, the dog next door, and might enjoy a future play date with a dog closer to her size and energy level.

Sonar hasn’t lived with cats in foster care, but she has a funny little habit of rubbing her body along people like a kitty — her foster suspects she may have shared a home with cats before. 

​

And if you catch her outside? Get ready to be wowed by her prancing strides and impressive leaps across the yard. Sonar is equal parts athlete, entertainer, and sweetheart, looking for a family who can match her zest for life while appreciating her love of downtime snuggles.
