To say this one is beyond exceptional is an understatement...Spirit is truly living up to his namesake. His heart, head, and will to survive are equally as large as his forgiving perseverance. Spirit arrived with Frankie Stein after being found in the local Walmart in Georgia. Sadly, Spirit had been shot multiple times in his past life and was left with a very painful hip dislocation. If that was not bad enough, he also was heartworm and mycoplasma positive. These can be a deadly mosquito and tick-borne diseases if left untreated.

 

Spirit has recovered from FHO surgery and was treated for heartworms and mycoplasma in his foster home. He loves to cuddle on the couch or in his dog bed. Finally, receiving the care and attention he so rightfully deserves. For the most part, Spirit is a quiet guy who just wants to be loved and be close to his people. VERY CLOSE!​

 

Spirit loves spending time with his foster sister SEPR Pepper and follows her around for attention. We can see he is genuinely missing his soul mate, Frankie Stein, and would love to see them reunited and adopted into a loving family after all they have been through.

 

Spirit is house-trained and, with a consistent routine, has learned his kennel is a safe place. For dinner time, he does well for sitting and waiting. Spirit is also beginning to catch on to other daily commands, like sit, wait, out, down, and look. He’s a happy-go-lucky guy who sometimes doesn’t realize his size and tries to push past his foster sister when it's potty time. A regular routine of " sitting" before going outside has helped with being more patient at doorways. ​

 

Spirit is a champ on leash out and about for daily adventures. He also enjoys car rides and being a co-pilot. During his first months, he used steps and ramps to get in and out of vehicles for all his vet appointments. Although he may enjoy a good outing, he is not a fan of bath time yet. We are guessing this is something that is pretty foreign to him, but in his genuine loving nature more practice and time, he will come to enjoy his peanut butter licki mats more for tub time.

 

Spirit enjoys spending his days lying on his dog bed with a good bone or interacting with all his new friends. While he may be from GA, he loves frolicking in the snow and, now completely healed, will enjoy a fun family! Spirit is a true testament to this breeds resilience to forgive and move on.
