about SYRENA
Named after the beautiful and mysterious mermaid from our Pirates of the Caribbean crew, Syrena has proven that there is so much more beneath the surface once a dog is given safety, structure, and time to shine.
When Syrena first arrived in her foster home, her family took things slow and steady. With three young children and two senior dogs in the home, everyone was introduced to her new life carefully and thoughtfully. During those first couple of weeks, Syrena was kept in a smaller, structured area of the home where she could decompress, learn the routine, and finally get some much-needed rest.
At first, Syrena was a little reserved as she figured out her new surroundings, but even then, one thing was very clear: this girl wanted love. She sought out affection, wanted to be near her people, and did her very best to soak up every cuddle she could get. As she has become more comfortable, her sweet and silly personality has started to come out.
Syrena is doing well with her foster family’s two resident dogs. She is not pushy or overbearing with them and is currently coexisting nicely with everyone. She also does well with the children in her foster home, with appropriate supervision, structure, and boundaries. Like any young, playful dog, she can still get a little mouthy when she is excited or wants attention, but she redirects well and is learning what is expected of her.
Outside, Syrena’s playful side really comes alive. She enjoys running, playing fetch, and showing off her happy, youthful energy. She is still learning her size and space, so her foster family makes sure playtime is managed safely, especially around children and the senior dogs. When everyone is outside together, Syrena does well on leash and is able to stay calm and relaxed.
Syrena has done well with kennel time, tie-down spots, and learning household routines. She has even started voluntarily choosing her place to relax, which shows just how much comfort and confidence she is gaining. She is smart, eager to please, food motivated, and quickly picks up on daily expectations. She is working on basic commands, leash skills, and “drop it,” but she is already showing us that she has a very willing heart.
This girl is the perfect mix of playful and affectionate. She has enough energy to enjoy adventure, fetch, and fun, but at the end of the day, she wants nothing more than to be close to her people. Syrena is loving, grateful, and ready to continue learning with a family who will give her the structure, patience, and guidance she deserves.
Syrena may have started her story as part of our pirate crew, but this sweet girl is ready to trade rough waters for forever love.
