about Timon

Hakuna Matata.

For Timon, those words aren't just a catchy phrase, they're a way of life.

Like his Lion King namesake, Timon approaches each day with curiosity, enthusiasm, and just enough mischief to keep everyone around him smiling. Whether he's rolling dramatically in the grass, soaking up the sunshine, or ringing the potty bells simply because he'd like another outdoor adventure, this little guy knows how to make every day a little brighter.

But Timon's story didn't begin with carefree days.

He was found in the South seeking shelter alongside his mother in a horse trailer after the two had been abandoned. Covered in mange, scars, cuts, and intestinal worms, Timon was underweight, frightened, and simply trying to survive. Life had dealt him a difficult hand, but Timon had something stronger than his circumstances: the heart of a survivor.

Since arriving at SEPR, this resilient little lion has transformed before our eyes. With proper veterinary care, good food, and plenty of love, his skin and coat have healed beautifully, and his joyful personality has emerged in full force. Today, it's hard to believe he's the same puppy who arrived needing so much help.

Timon's foster family lovingly calls him "Wigglebutt" because when he's excited, and that's often, his entire backside wiggles with happiness as he proudly struts around showing off his latest accomplishment. And there are plenty of accomplishments to celebrate. This smart little guy has already learned to sit, use bells to ask to go outside, and patiently wait for things he wants. Training has been a breeze thanks to one very important detail: Timon is incredibly food motivated. If treats are involved, he's ready to learn. If your dinner is involved, he's interested in that too, but foster mom says boundaries are important.

Like any growing puppy, Timon is full of curiosity, energy, and playful antics. He loves exploring, playing outside, and basking in the sunshine whenever possible. Once he's burned off some puppy energy, however, his favorite place to be is curled up beside his people, soaking up all the affection he can get.

Timon has already overcome more than most puppies ever should, yet he greets the world with optimism, trust, and a tail that never seems to stop wagging. He's proof that even after life's toughest beginnings, a little love can help a heart heal.

Now all Timon needs is a forever family to continue his journey.

After all, with a puppy this sweet by your side, it's pretty easy to believe in Hakuna Matata.

Reminder: puppies are like new born babies! A LOT of work and even when “raised right” we give no guarantees to who their individual personalities will develop into as adults. We are looking for families who clearly understand this and willing to “wow” us with their canine leadership and knowledge. Love will need to be guaranteed for LIFE, not just when they are small, cute, and cuddly.​

**Families with children 5 years of age and under wanting to adopt puppies will be reviewed on a

case-by-case basis. Raising a puppy properly takes a lot of time, and we understand that in families with small children, time can be a limited commodity.
