about WILL TURNER

Just like his Pirates of the Caribbean namesake, Will Turner isn't flashy or attention-seeking. He's loyal, steady, and quietly waiting for someone worth giving his whole heart to.

When Will arrived at SEPR, he carried some anxiety from spending more than a year in a shelter. Day after day, he watched other dogs come and go while he remained behind. To cope, he learned that barking was sometimes the only way to be noticed.

What puzzled us most was how a dog like Will ended up there in the first place.

It's obvious he once belonged to someone. He knows his manners, understands routines, and proudly shows off commands like sit, down, come, stay, and shake. Someone spent time teaching him how to be a good dog, and despite everything he's been through, he hasn't forgotten those lessons.

What Will wants most now is simple: his people.

He loves being close to the humans he trusts, whether that's lounging on a dog bed nearby, sharing a recliner, or curling up next to you at bedtime. While he enjoys a good bone or enrichment toy, nothing makes him happier than simply being part of the family.

Will is the perfect mix of affectionate and playful. He loves his evening zoomies, has a goofy side that appears when he's comfortable, and can turn almost anything into a reason to celebrate. At 56 pounds, he's the perfect size, not too big, not too small, and his striking gold eyes have a way of convincing people to give him just one more treat.

On walks, Will does well overall but can become excited if something unusual catches his attention. He's working hard on his focus skills and continues improving as he gains confidence and learns the world is a safe place.

Will is crate trained and kennels up on command, but after spending so much of his life confined in a shelter, he'd much rather be with his people. He is continuing to work through some separation anxiety and has been making wonderful progress with routine, structure, and enrichment.

He currently lives alongside a senior female pit bull and has shown appropriate interest in other dogs. He has also met children and done very well with them.

More than anything, Will deserves what he's waited so long to find: stability, patience, and a family that won't give up on him.

His heart is as big as his paws, and he's more than ready to give it completely to someone willing to take a chance on him.

Could that someone be you?
